Gander

Summer how cruel you are in your ways.

First you taunt me with visions of FREEDOM and happy times away from studying
then you remind me what summer actually means....REPRESSION!

no I cannot wander idyllically through meadows or any long grass
I am stuck inside!

Because the hours of 11-4 typically call for an extra 10degrees in the weather gauge
AND I am not quite partial to melanoma
I have set my summer butt next to a fan (/the AC when it decides to work.)

I am v. glad I can work from home this summer
otherwise I'm pretty sure I would be a pile of goo on the bitument by now.

..on the weekends however
I make a special effort to walk/limp or crawl to nature or events with friends
(there is only so much INSIDE a lady can take)
so without further ado here are some of me and luke's weekend times

(Gem show at the Sunshine coast + GOMA + westend wanderings)

Quartz + Pyrite

Sebastian + Luke

Our good friend David + Luke

Dot fury

DOTZ!

Shay's 21st!

..quite possible the best 21st I have ever attended
everything homemade and amazing
from the popcorn containers to the massive cinema screen
all the details cumulated in a relaxed and otherworldly birthday experience

I can't wait to see what shay cooks up next year.

How Roald Dahl is relevant to my life

I didn't realize but sometime in between finishing my portfolio and
starting a new diploma I grew to really enjoy blogging

I read this really excellent quote from Roald Dahl
who was once asked for advice on how to become a great author
he replied
"...sure practice writing but READ AS MUCH AS YOU CAN"

..and I feel thats all I've been doing the last 6 or so months
reading and listening to my friends, teachers, parents and lovers
and while I can be quiet
I sometimes feel that I am so filled with these
small instructions, lectures or gossip from the people I work with or love
...I am moved to speak or act

writing posts about my life (however quiet or mundane it is)
is really cathartic

I think Photography is also one of the freest forms of expression
So without further ado
Here are some of the photos from my recent adventures

done thus far

Summer always finds me with a kind of languid melancholy
in Australia November marks the onset of summer
and with exams over and done with
I find myself spending whole afternoons lying in bed absorbed
in the rotations of my ceiling fan
or in the kitchen reading the paper against the
familiar humming of the refrigerator.

...It's not to say my days have been completely unproductive
but as the thermostat rises so does my "Meh." Factor
why put on pants when you know you don't have to go to work?
why make breakfast when there is a bottle of apple juice in the fridge?

for once I am enjoying my slow regression into the teenage slob that I secretly am
because I know the final semester is going to be a bitch
so I'm planning to absorb as much sun, frivolity and quiet afternoons by myself
as I can (will also write up my mega to do list as well!)

Hope November is treating you kindly internet
(and/or the other people who read my blog)
